5 Reasons To Have An Engagement Session

You’re engaged!! So, you’ve picked a date, booked a venue, and now you’re looking for a wedding photographer. I love to kick off your wedding experience with an engagement session because I truly feel that it plays a huge part in your overall wedding experience, and all (3) of my wedding packages include a complimentary engagement session, so why not take advantage!

The engagement session serves as the perfect trial run for both parties – you get to know a little bit about me, my experience, my posing system; and I get the opportunity to know my wonderful couple! It’s such a perfect way to break the ice.

Here are (5) perks for having an engagement session!

1. It Builds Trust & Connection

Unless we’re friends, or friends of friends – we probably don’t know each other! That’s why I think the best thing about having an engagement session is that it offers an opportunity to build trust and a connection between both of you and myself. We chat about your wedding day, wedding planning, your love story, your likes/dislikes, amongst many other topics. I love learning about my clients, and connecting with each one of my couples is a huge thing for me!

2. Introduces You To My Posing System

During your engagement session, I get to see first-hand how the two of you interact with each other. I get to see what you like, what you don’t like, what kind of couple you are (fun, engaging, outgoing, shy, reserved, etc.). All of these factors go towards helping me see your personality and knowing what I can do to help bring out those true emotions!

There’s so much more that goes into taking beautiful photos than just knowing how to operate a fancy camera or planting you in aesthetically pleasing poses. I want you to be able to look at your photos and really feel all of the emotions you had. Your engagement session is centered around something I like to call “prompt posing”, which is a fancy word for giving you activities to do that bring out genuine laughter and emotion. I love to incorporate a mix of prompt posing and natural posing with every session. The engagement session is more carefree and stress free. I just want you to have a great time!

Your wedding day is a little bit different. Whereas the engagement session is more physically involved, your wedding day is going to be a bit more posed. I don’t incorporate a lot of prompt posing on wedding days due to the fact that you are dressed to the nine’s, and I don’t want anything to happen to y’all’s attire! However, I still make your bride and groom portrait session super fun but without you having to be out of breath! LOL!

3. Being Engaged Is A Huge Milestone

This is a once in a lifetime session! The engagement phase is such a huge deal and can often times be overshadowed by the “big event”. I encourage you to slow down and enjoy this time in your relationship. By capturing this milestone, you’re able to enjoy this feeling a little bit longer, and these photos will always be there to remind you of this time in your relationship! Don’t let the pressures and/or excitement of your wedding day obscure this special time.

4. You’ll Feel Like Pro’s On Your Wedding Day

Being photographed for the first time can feel a little daunting and uncomfortable. You’re not sure what to expect, you have a million things running through your mind, you may begin to feel a little self-conscious about what you’re wearing, or about the process in general – just imagine having to deal with all of these emotions on your wedding day! Trust me, the time spent at your engagement session will work wonders for you on your big day.

5. You Can Use Your Photos For So Many Things

Depending on when you book your engagement session, you could end up using these photos for your wedding website, invitations, programs, photo displays at your wedding, etc. Not to mention, you could use these photos to update your profile picture on Facebook/Instagram that isn’t another selfie!
