I am so excited to be sharing Abby and Conner’s Dallas engagement session with you today!! These two were absolutely fantastic – I swear, I have the most amazing couples! We started their session off at Turtle Creek Park, one of my top favorite locations for an engagement session. Unfortunately, Arlington Hall, a beautiful mansion nuzzled right in the middle of the park, was blocked off due to an event. But, we made the best of it!

We ended up walking around the park getting some gorgeous shots with all of the greenery as well as a few shots in front of the condo complex across the street. We did have to work around the rain… BUT, the rain didn’t stop us from capturing absolute magic during their session! After Turtle Creek Park, we decided to hop on over to Flippen Park to finish out their session. Flippen Park is also another favorite location of mine.. It’s always so packed with photographers though, and for good reason! So, we had to work around a lot of other sessions that were taking place at that time, but we got what we needed and ended the session strong!

How Conner Proposed

Abby and Conner met at the end of their junior year in high school – they were both 17! They actually met through a few mutual friends of theirs. I love when I hear my couples are high school sweethearts! You just don’t hear about that as often anymore. Their first date was at a restaurant called Oscar Delta in downtown Rockwall. It was in the spring of 2016, and it was actually the first real date Abby had ever been on!

Abby’s mom helped plan the entire proposal! She told Abby they were having a family dinner at a vineyard and winery called Kiepersol’s in Tyler, TX. Abby’s mom mentioned that everyone was going to be celebrating the end of Abby’s first year of teaching. Upon arriving to the restaurant, Abby walked down to the vineyard area expecting to have dinner, and saw Conner down on one knee instead! She was completely shocked!! Both of their families were all on the balcony at the restaurant watching and cheering them on. How beautiful and amazing?!!

Abby and Conner will be tying the knot next spring at Chandelier Farms, one of Dallas’ “best-kept secrets” venue! It’s a beautiful white barn and wedding chapel nestled in the Texas countryside of Terrell, TX just east of DFW. I am so excited to celebrate with them next year! Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Routen!! 🥂
